Eng11 - Assignment #2

Assignment #2

People always seem force as a bad thing, because it is dangerous and can easily hurt others, but sometimes using force is a sense of responsibility. It just like the polices use force to protect the cities and civilians. In the story, “The use of force”, the speaker talked about his new patient who is a little girl had diphtheria that she didn’t want to open the mouth for him to check which made the doctor had to use force to open her mouth. The speaker wanted to “ look at her throat on the chance that she might have diphtheria and possibly die of it”.  It showed he didn’t wanted to leave the girl continue liking this and finally died from the serious disease, so he wanted to have a look at the girls’ mouth and check. The sense of responsibility of the doctor lead him wanted to save the little girl’s live even the girl was painful to do it. It is important because it shows the doctors’ responsibility as a doctor, he wanted all of his patients can be healed, so he wanted to responsible for her, even the parents do not help him.The speaker “ overpowered the child’s neck and jaws. He forced the heavy silver spoon back of her teeth and down her throat till she gagged ”. This description showed how the doctor found out the girl had diphtheria accurately by using force without giving up. As a doctor with a sense of responsibility to help a poor family, he didn’t choose to make girl felt happy and let parents felt relieved to not to check it, he just wants to help this girl to find out the diseases quickly and help her to get better, so he chooses to use force that even the girl will think he is a bad guy. Of all, sometimes using force is a sense of responsibility that you know what you do is correct and using force is not always a bad thing, sometimes it is necessary to using force to solving the problems.
