The poster above is by the American government to encourage people to support the war from buying War Bonds and enlisting during World War II. The American flag holding by a boy on the poster help attract the patriots’ attention. Then the three kids in the middle and the image of Nazis make people want to protect them from the war. The Word on the poster which says” Don’t Let That Shadow Touch Them, Buy War Bonds” directly show that, if you want to protect our country and want to stay alive, join the war and help to buy war bonds. The girls’ doll had touched and lie on the symbol of Nazis, which is the symbol of death and make people feel serious about the War. The artist use transfer as propaganda on using American flag and the symbol of Nazis make people transfer their emotion on as an America, they should help protect the country and fight against the war. This poster was successful during the World War II because it is good for America to encourage people, especially patriots to join the army and buying war bonds to help make the America strong. If this poster is in today’s society, it might not have the same impact as during World War II, it’s because now the world is almost peaceful and the countries become developed, they got enough money to buy the weapons and build the armies. Don’t need the money from civilians to buy war bonds. In today’s society, there is less demand for war bonds and soldiers. So it might not work in today's America.

SS11 - Assignment # 7
Consider the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Which specific part of the Charter do you think is the most important? Why?
By Comparing the detail of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, I find that the legal rights which says “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice.” and the equality right says that “Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.” are the most important parts. It is because when people have freedom, they can feel free to do what they want to do and go wherever they want to go. It is a basic and important right for people not be limit by the governments or countries, which mention as the “fundamental justice” ,it can help protect their own security. It’s also very important for people to be equality, no matter the different colour skins, religions, sex, age or any other factors, people should be equal to make the society more harmonious and to avoid the war happened.

It’s my third day in Bali Island which is a baking hot sunny day. The dazzling sunshine through the thin curtain wake me up and make me feel hard to open my eyes. I open the curtain and the windows to enjoy the fresh air. Look out of the window, there are few people swimming and surfing in the swimming pool. Near the swimming pool, it’s a golden beach which has many people lying on the chairs to enjoy the sunbath and the children are playing with the sands and water. Peoples are laughing and enjoying. Assignment #4
Are you optimistic or pessimistic about the world’s ability to solve the climate change crisis? Why?
I feel pessimistic about the world’s ability to solve the climate change crisis when I see the varying and changeable weather this few year, the temperature is very high in summer and it’s very cold in winter, as if it tell us we should make some changes. People often talk about the environment problems, for instance, the global warming, ozone layer depletion and different kinds of pollutions. Sometimes the countries also meet together to discuss and think of the ways to protect the environment, such as the Paris Agreement, the Kyoto Protocol and Montreal Protocol. Although the countries agree to the agreements and would like to help solve the green house problems together, the negative effects are sill more than the solutions and it is hard to implement. The article “Can the Planet Be Saved?” from Atlantic notices that “Climate change is a lot worse than most of us realize. Almost regardless of what we do on the mitigation front, we are in for a whole lot of hurt” , which shows the environment is become worse and worse than what we think. The countries have already talked for more than 20 years about what we need to change for protecting the environment, but people in the countries still think it’s not that worse and think someone might will fix it up. I feel futureless about the world’s ability to solve the climate problems, because I don’t think people’s changes will make the world better quickly and I also can’t image what will happen at the end of the world.

Eng11 - Assignment #3
In “The Highway Man” by Alfred Noyes, the speaker uses imagery to show that sometimes, imagery can create the atmosphere to make it easier for readers to get into the emotion. There are lots of use of imagery in this poem, for example, “There was death at every window, And hell at one dark window” the window is an imagery which symbolizes hope. After Bess had been bounded by the soldiers, she hopes someone can help her and the highwayman can notice and won’t come back, so that the soldiers won’t catch him. The window there is a symbol of hope and it is also a tool for Bess to know that is highwayman comeback or not. In the line 23 Part 2 of the poem, the speaker notices that” Till, now, on the stroke of midnight, Cold, on the stroke of midnight”, the midnight as an imagery, set off a cold and sad atmosphere after Bess killed herself by gun to protect the highwayman. The midnight there symbolizes to the dark and cold condition, which create by speaker makes readers feel sad about the love between highwayman and Bess. It also shows the unselfish of the love. After the highwayman goes back and finds out Bess died, highwayman is really mad, “With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high!”. The white road smoking is an imagery, which shows the highwayman is really mad and he is hurrying to revenge. So the hurry makes the horse run very fast and full of smoking from the ground. Of all, the imagery is act as a navigation in this poem to build the atmosphere to let readers can get into the poem and the emotion deeply or easily.

SS11 - Assignment #3
The serious problem that Kenya has is most people are caught in the cycle of poverty, which they have high birth rate and they don’t have enough money to pay for the national debt. Most of the lands in Kenya had been used to plant things that will be used to manufacture, like cotton and coffee beans. Some of the other lands are used for tourism, it causes them have less food to eat and also causes lots of health problems such as malnutrition which “Nearly 20 percent of children under 5 are underweight”. The literacy rate of Kenya also is very low that causes “the country’s unemployment rate is 40 percent”, which is also in a low percentage. The strategies that I suggest first is to expand or transform some of the lands from manufacturing to farming to grow more food to help them to keep healthy and reduce the malnutrition problems. The second way is to import some foreign teachers come from different developed countries to Kenya to educate the children and teenagers how to read and write to improve their literacy rate and the standard of living of the whole country. By comparing the data of Canada and Kenya on page 399, we can find that there is a big discrepancy between the life expectancy and the total population of Kenya and Canada. The total population of Canada is about 3 billion and Kenya’s population is 4 billion, it seems like there is no big different between their number of total populations, but Canada have longer life expectancy than Kenya that Canada’s life expectancy is 81 years old and Kenya’s life expectancy is 57 years old. Canada has longer life expectancy than Kenya is because they have much better health care and well living condition than Kenya. Although Kenya has more population than Canada, their death rate still higher than Canada which makes their life expectancy generally lower.
