Using quotes from Chapter 1 of Of Mice and Men, describe and compare two of the characters from the book. Consider how they dress, how they act, and how they speak to each other. What argument can you make by comparing them?
In the Chapter 1 of Of Mice and Men, when the main character Lennie and George first appear, “ they are both dressed in denim trousers and in denim courts with brass buttons. Both wore black, shapeless hats and both carried tight blanket rolls slung over their shoulders.” we can know that they are from the same group and they are poor. The narrator said that “the first man was small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp. Every part of him was defined: small, strong hands, slender arms, a thin and bony nose.” which shows that the first man, George is small and weak, he feels tired and didn’t have good rest. The other main character Lennie is “a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with wide, sloping shoulders; and he walked heavily.” The action from them shows they are tired but they have to go to find a work on the farm for alive. Lennie is much stronger than George, but he is also tired and toilsome. Although Lennie is forgetful and George is more talent that they are different, but when they corporate together and combined the advantage of both two characters together will make them more possible to do work better.
